The jalapeño was named after the Mexican town of Xalapa.
Jalapeños are a type of Capsicum. The plants growing time is about 70 to 80 days. When mature, the plant stands about three feet tall. Plant produce about 25 to 35 pods. During a growing season, a plant will be picked multiple times. As the growing season ends, jalapeñ pods start to turn bright red. The peppers can be eaten green or red.
