This is a great chilli with a lovely fresh flavour that isn't as hot as its name may suggest. One of the earliest producing chillies it can be eaten young when the fruits are pale yellow-green and have a very mild heat. Alternatively the fruits can be allowed to mature to orange red, at which point they have built up a satisfying 'kick'!
Measuring an average of 3" - 6" (7.5 - 15 cm) in length and 1" - 1½" (2.5 - 4 cm) in diameter, these thin skinned fruits are perfect for stuffing and roasting - or filling with cream cheese or similar and battering and deep frying. Interestingly when sliced, the closer to the stem you get the hotter it gets. We've also found that when cooked it loses some of its heat.
The plant has a compact and bushy habit, growing 2 - 3 feet (60 - 90 cm) tall with a spread of 1 - 1½ feet (30 - 45 cm).
