Originating from Bolivia, this is a truly beautiful Chilli, worth growing for its ornamental value alone.
Deep black-green foliage first becomes smothered in tiny purple star-like flowers before these form the cone-shaped fruits that start off purple then go through almost all the colours of the rainbow as they mature to a rich red. A mid-September plant is simply stunning!
Despite being so ornamental, Bolivian Rainbow is an equally good variety for culinary use. The fruits have a really spicy kick, making them perfect for using raw or cooked.
Cone shaped fruits are around ¾" (2 cm) long and ½" (1 cm) at their widest. The plant has quite an open spreading habit (perfect for that cascade of colour) and grows to around 3 feet (90 cm) tall with a similar spread.
Origin: Bolivia.
Heat: Hot - approximately 30,000-50,000 SHUs.
